President's Council on Sustainable Development
The President's Council on Sustainable Development was established by Executive Order 12852 of June 29, 1993. The Council was made up of not more than 25 members from the public and private sectors who represented industrial, environmental, governmental and not-for-profit organizations with experience relating to matters of sustainable development.
The Council's functions were to advise the President on matters involving sustainable development and to develop and recommend to the President a national sustainable development action strategy that will foster economic vitality.
The Council was terminated by Executive Order 23238 of September 30, 1999.
