The Women's Progress Commemoration Commission was established under the Act of October 31, 1998 (112 Stat. 3196). The Commission consists of 15 members whose duties were to submit no later than 1 year after their initial meeting a report to the Secretary of the Interior that
(1) identified sites of historical significance to the women's movement; and
(2) recommended actions, under the National Preservation Act and other law, to rehabilitate and preserve the sites and provide to the public interpretive and educational materials and activities at the sites.
