The SNURs require persons to notify EPA at least 90 days before commencing the manufacture (defined by statute to include import) or processing of any of these chemical substances for an activity that is designated as a significant new use in the SNUR. The required notification initiates EPA's evaluation of the conditions of that use for that chemical substance. In addition, the manufacture or processing for the significant new use may not commence until EPA has conducted a review of the required notification; made an appropriate determination regarding that notification; and taken such actions as required by that determination.","document_number":"2026-17400","html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/08/26/2026-17400/significant-new-use-rules-on-certain-chemical-substances-24-55e","pdf_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2026-08-26/pdf/2026-17400.pdf","public_inspection_pdf_url":"https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2026-17400.pdf?1787661914","publication_date":"2026-08-26","agencies":[{"raw_name":"ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY","name":"Environmental Protection Agency","id":145,"url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/environmental-protection-agency","json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/agencies/145","parent_id":null,"slug":"environmental-protection-agency"}],"excerpts":"under this section for the significant new uses described in paragraph (a)(2) of this section.
