{"abstract":"The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announces a cooperative agreement program to solicit support for the Buckle Up America (BUA) campaign. NHTSA solicits applications from the State Associations of Chiefs of Police to participate in the BUA campaign, by mobilizing law enforcement agencies to increase the use of seat belts and child safety seats, the most effective safety devices for reducing injuries and fatalities in traffic crashes. Only applications submitted by the State Associations of Chiefs of Police will be considered. The State Associations of Chiefs of Police will take a leadership role in involving the law enforcement agencies in their state in increasing enforcement of seat belt and child safety seat laws by participating in the mobilization periods, high visibility enforcement, training officers and public information and education.","action":"Announcement of Cooperative Agreements in conjunction with the Buckle Up America Campaign to increase seat belt enforcement with the State Associations of Chiefs of Police.","agencies":[{"raw_name":"DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION","name":"Transportation Department","id":492,"url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/transportation-department","json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/agencies/492","parent_id":null,"slug":"transportation-department"},{"raw_name":"National Highway Traffic Safety Administration","name":"National Highway Traffic Safety Administration","id":345,"url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/national-highway-traffic-safety-administration","json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/agencies/345","parent_id":492,"slug":"national-highway-traffic-safety-administration"}],"body_html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/html/2001/05/01/01-10818.html","cfr_references":[],"citation":"66 FR 21817","comment_url":null,"comments_close_on":null,"correction_of":null,"corrections":[],"dates":"Applications must be received no later than June 1, 2001, at 2 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.","disposition_notes":null,"docket_ids":[],"dockets":[],"document_number":"01-10818","effective_on":null,"end_page":21820,"executive_order_notes":null,"executive_order_number":null,"explanation":null,"full_text_xml_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/xml/2001/05/01/01-10818.xml","html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2001/05/01/01-10818/discretionary-cooperative-agreements-to-support-seat-belt-enforcement-with-state-associations-of","images":{},"images_metadata":{},"json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/documents/01-10818?publication_date=2001-05-01","mods_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/metadata/granule/FR-2001-05-01/01-10818/mods.xml","not_received_for_publication":null,"page_length":4,"page_views":{"count":21,"last_updated":"2026-04-05 02:15:03 -0400"},"pdf_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2001-05-01/pdf/01-10818.pdf","presidential_document_number":null,"proclamation_number":null,"public_inspection_pdf_url":null,"publication_date":"2001-05-01","raw_text_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/text/2001/05/01/01-10818.txt","regulation_id_number_info":{},"regulation_id_numbers":[],"regulations_dot_gov_info":{},"regulations_dot_gov_url":null,"significant":null,"signing_date":null,"start_page":21817,"subtype":null,"title":"Discretionary Cooperative Agreements To Support Seat Belt Enforcement With State Associations of Chiefs of Police","toc_doc":"State Associations of Chiefs of Police; seat belt enforcement","toc_subject":"Grants and cooperative agreements; availability, etc.:","topics":[],"type":"Notice","volume":66}
