{"abstract":"The EPA is proposing to determine that the Louisville moderate ozone nonattainment area (Louisville area) has attained the 1-hour ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). The Louisville area includes Jefferson County and portions of Bullitt and Oldham Counties, Kentucky, and Clark and Floyd Counties, Indiana. This proposed determination is based on three years of complete, quality- assured, ambient air monitoring data for the 1998 to 2000 ozone seasons that demonstrate that the area has attained the 1-hour ozone NAAQS. On the basis of this determination, EPA is also proposing to determine that State Implementation Plan (SIP) submissions for certain reasonable further progress (RFP) and attainment demonstration requirements, along with certain other related requirements of part D of Title 1 of the Clean Air Act (CAA) are no longer required for the Louisville area for so long as the area continues to attain the 1-hour ozone NAAQS. All previously-approved SIP revisions must continue to be implemented and enforced and are not affected by this action.","action":"Proposed rule.","agencies":[{"raw_name":"ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY","name":"Environmental Protection Agency","id":145,"url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/environmental-protection-agency","json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/agencies/145","parent_id":null,"slug":"environmental-protection-agency"}],"body_html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/html/2001/05/17/01-12439.html","cfr_references":[{"chapter":null,"citation_url":null,"part":52,"title":40}],"citation":"66 FR 27483","comment_url":null,"comments_close_on":"2001-06-18","correction_of":null,"corrections":[],"dates":"Written comments on EPA's proposed action must be received on or before June 18, 2001.","disposition_notes":null,"docket_ids":["KY-200108","IN121-1","FRL-6982-2"],"dockets":[],"document_number":"01-12439","effective_on":null,"end_page":27487,"executive_order_notes":null,"executive_order_number":null,"explanation":null,"full_text_xml_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/xml/2001/05/17/01-12439.xml","html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2001/05/17/01-12439/determination-of-attainment-of-ozone-standard-by-louisville-kentucky-and-indiana-area-and","images":{},"images_metadata":{},"json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/documents/01-12439?publication_date=2001-05-17","mods_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/metadata/granule/FR-2001-05-17/01-12439/mods.xml","not_received_for_publication":null,"page_length":5,"page_views":{"count":56,"last_updated":"2026-04-04 18:15:03 -0400"},"pdf_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2001-05-17/pdf/01-12439.pdf","presidential_document_number":null,"proclamation_number":null,"public_inspection_pdf_url":null,"publication_date":"2001-05-17","raw_text_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/text/2001/05/17/01-12439.txt","regulation_id_number_info":{},"regulation_id_numbers":[],"regulations_dot_gov_info":{},"regulations_dot_gov_url":null,"significant":null,"signing_date":null,"start_page":27483,"subtype":null,"title":"Determination of Attainment of Ozone Standard by Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana, Area and Determination Regarding Applicability of Certain Reasonable Further Progress and Attainment Demonstration Requirements","toc_doc":"Kentucky and Indiana","toc_subject":"Air quality implementation plans; approval and promulgation; various States:","topics":["Air pollution control","Environmental protection","Hydrocarbons","Intergovernmental relations","Nitrogen dioxide","Ozone","Reporting and recordkeeping requirements"],"type":"Proposed Rule","volume":66}
