{"abstract":"The North Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) has submitted Amendments 78 and 65 to the Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for Groundfish of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area (BSAI), Amendments 73 and 65 to the FMP for Groundfish of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA), Amendments 16 and 12 to the FMP for Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands King and Tanner Crabs, Amendments 7, 9, and 11 to the FMP for the Scallop Fishery Off Alaska, and Amendments 7 and 8 to the FMP for Salmon Fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone Off the Coast of Alaska. These amendments, if approved, would revise the FMPs by identifying and authorizing protection measures for essential fish habitat (EFH) and habitat areas of particular concern (HAPCs) in all five FMPs and update the biological and management information in the scallop FMP. This action is necessary to revise the descriptions of EFH in the FMPs based on the best available scientific information and to protect areas that have important habitat features for the sustainability of managed fish stocks. This action also is necessary to provide an updated FMP for scallop fishery management. This action is intended to promote the goals and objectives of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (Magnuson-Stevens Act), the FMPs, and other applicable laws. Comments from the public are welcome.","action":"Announcement of availability of proposed amendments to fishery management plans; request for comments.","agencies":[{"raw_name":"DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE","name":"Commerce Department","id":54,"url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/commerce-department","json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/agencies/54","parent_id":null,"slug":"commerce-department"},{"raw_name":"National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration","name":"National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration","id":361,"url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/national-oceanic-and-atmospheric-administration","json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/agencies/361","parent_id":54,"slug":"national-oceanic-and-atmospheric-administration"}],"body_html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/html/2006/02/06/06-1083.html","cfr_references":[{"chapter":null,"citation_url":null,"part":679,"title":50}],"citation":"71 FR 6031","comment_url":null,"comments_close_on":"2006-04-07","correction_of":null,"corrections":[],"dates":"Comments on the amendments must be received by close of business on April 7, 2006.","disposition_notes":null,"docket_ids":["I.D. 013006I"],"dockets":[],"document_number":"06-1083","effective_on":null,"end_page":6032,"executive_order_notes":null,"executive_order_number":null,"full_text_xml_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/xml/2006/02/06/06-1083.xml","html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2006/02/06/06-1083/fisheries-of-the-exclusive-economic-zone-off-alaska-groundfish-crab-salmon-and-scallop-fisheries-of","images":{},"images_metadata":{},"json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/documents/06-1083?publication_date=2006-02-06","mods_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/metadata/granule/FR-2006-02-06/06-1083/mods.xml","not_received_for_publication":null,"page_length":2,"page_views":{"count":98,"last_updated":"2026-08-25 14:15:04 -0400"},"pdf_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2006-02-06/pdf/06-1083.pdf","presidential_document_number":null,"proclamation_number":null,"public_inspection_pdf_url":null,"publication_date":"2006-02-06","raw_text_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/text/2006/02/06/06-1083.txt","regulation_id_number_info":{"0648-AT09":null},"regulation_id_numbers":["0648-AT09"],"regulations_dot_gov_info":{"checked_regulationsdotgov_at":"2011-11-12T18:13:08Z"},"regulations_dot_gov_url":null,"significant":null,"signing_date":null,"start_page":6031,"subtype":null,"title":"Fisheries of the Exclusive Economic Zone Off Alaska; Groundfish, Crab, Salmon, and Scallop Fisheries of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area and Gulf of Alaska","toc_doc":"Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands and Gulf of Alaska groundfish, crab, salmon, and scallop","toc_subject":"Fishery conservation and management:","topics":[],"type":"Proposed Rule","volume":71}
