{"abstract":"The Mine Safety and Health Administration's final rule amends the Agency's standards for the examination of working places in metal and nonmetal mines. This final rule requires that an examination of the working place be conducted before miners begin working in that place, that operators notify miners in the affected areas of any conditions found that may adversely affect their safety or health, that operators promptly initiate corrective action, and that a record be made of the examination. The final rule also requires that the examination record include: The name of the person conducting the examination, the date of the examination, the location of all areas examined, a description of each condition found that may adversely affect the safety or health of miners, and the date of the corrective action. In addition, the final rule requires that mine operators make the examination record available for inspection by authorized representatives of the Secretary and miners' representatives and provide a copy upon request.","action":"Final rule.","agencies":[{"raw_name":"DEPARTMENT OF LABOR","name":"Labor Department","id":271,"url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/labor-department","json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/agencies/271","parent_id":null,"slug":"labor-department"},{"raw_name":"Mine Safety and Health Administration","name":"Mine Safety and Health Administration","id":288,"url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/mine-safety-and-health-administration","json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/agencies/288","parent_id":271,"slug":"mine-safety-and-health-administration"}],"body_html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/html/2017/01/23/2017-00832.html","cfr_references":[{"chapter":null,"citation_url":null,"part":56,"title":30},{"chapter":null,"citation_url":null,"part":57,"title":30}],"citation":"82 FR 7680","comment_url":null,"comments_close_on":null,"correction_of":null,"corrections":[],"dates":"Effective date: May 23, 2017.","disposition_notes":null,"docket_ids":["Docket No. MSHA-2014-0030"],"dockets":[],"document_number":"2017-00832","effective_on":"2017-05-23","end_page":7695,"executive_order_notes":null,"executive_order_number":null,"explanation":null,"full_text_xml_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/xml/2017/01/23/2017-00832.xml","html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2017/01/23/2017-00832/examinations-of-working-places-in-metal-and-nonmetal-mines","images":{},"images_metadata":{},"json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/documents/2017-00832?publication_date=2017-01-23","mods_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/metadata/granule/FR-2017-01-23/2017-00832/mods.xml","not_received_for_publication":null,"page_length":16,"page_views":{"count":2976,"last_updated":"2026-04-23 10:15:05 -0400"},"pdf_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2017-01-23/pdf/2017-00832.pdf","presidential_document_number":null,"proclamation_number":null,"public_inspection_pdf_url":"https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2017-00832.pdf?1484687727","publication_date":"2017-01-23","raw_text_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/text/2017/01/23/2017-00832.txt","regulation_id_number_info":{"1219-AB87":{"issue":"201710","html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/regulations/1219-AB87/examination-of-working-places-in-metal-and-nonmetal-mines","title":"Examination of Working Places in Metal and Nonmetal Mines","xml_url":"http://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/eAgendaViewRule?pubId=201710&RIN=1219-AB87&operation=OPERATION_EXPORT_XML","priority_category":"Other Significant"}},"regulation_id_numbers":["1219-AB87"],"regulations_dot_gov_info":{"supporting_documents":[{"title":"Energy Information Administration (EIA). 2016. 2015 Domestic Uranium Production Report.
