{"abstract":"Addressing childhood lead exposure is a priority for EPA. As part of EPA's efforts to reduce childhood lead exposure, EPA evaluated the current dust-lead hazard standards (DLHS) and the definition of lead-based paint (LBP). Based on this evaluation, this final rule revises the DLHS from 40 [micro]g/ft\\2\\ and 250 [micro]g/ft\\2\\ to 10 [micro]g/ft\\2\\ and 100 [micro]g/ft\\2\\ on floors and window sills, respectively. EPA is also finalizing its proposal to make no change to the definition of LBP because insufficient information exists to support such a change at this time.","action":"Final rule.","agencies":[{"raw_name":"ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY","name":"Environmental Protection Agency","id":145,"url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/environmental-protection-agency","json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/agencies/145","parent_id":null,"slug":"environmental-protection-agency"}],"body_html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/html/2019/07/09/2019-14024.html","cfr_references":[{"chapter":null,"citation_url":null,"part":745,"title":40}],"citation":"84 FR 32632","comment_url":null,"comments_close_on":null,"correction_of":null,"corrections":[],"dates":"This final rule is effective January 6, 2020.","disposition_notes":null,"docket_ids":["EPA-HQ-OPPT-2018-0166","FRL-9995-49"],"dockets":[],"document_number":"2019-14024","effective_on":"2020-01-06","end_page":32648,"executive_order_notes":null,"executive_order_number":null,"explanation":null,"full_text_xml_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/xml/2019/07/09/2019-14024.xml","html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2019/07/09/2019-14024/review-of-the-dust-lead-hazard-standards-and-the-definition-of-lead-based-paint","images":{},"images_metadata":{},"json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/documents/2019-14024?publication_date=2019-07-09","mods_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/metadata/granule/FR-2019-07-09/2019-14024/mods.xml","not_received_for_publication":null,"page_length":17,"page_views":{"count":8137,"last_updated":"2026-04-05 02:15:03 -0400"},"pdf_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2019-07-09/pdf/2019-14024.pdf","presidential_document_number":null,"proclamation_number":null,"public_inspection_pdf_url":"https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2019-14024.pdf?1562589918","publication_date":"2019-07-09","raw_text_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/text/2019/07/09/2019-14024.txt","regulation_id_number_info":{"2070-AJ82":{"issue":"201904","html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/regulations/2070-AJ82/review-of-dust-lead-hazard-standards-and-the-definition-of-lead-based-paint","title":"Review of Dust-Lead Hazard Standards and the Definition of Lead-Based Paint","xml_url":"http://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/eAgendaViewRule?pubId=201904&RIN=2070-AJ82&operation=OPERATION_EXPORT_XML","priority_category":"Economically Significant"}},"regulation_id_numbers":["2070-AJ82"],"regulations_dot_gov_info":{"supporting_documents":[{"title":"Wang Y., Thornton I., Farago M.
