{"abstract":"The U.S. Department of Energy (\"DOE\") is initiating an effort to determine whether to amend the current uniform national standard for unfired hot water storage tanks (\"UFHWSTs\"). Under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975, as amended, DOE must review this standard at least once every six years and publish either a notice of proposed rulemaking (\"NOPR\") to propose an amended standard (or standards) for UFHWSTs or a notice of determination that the existing standard does not need to be amended. This request for information (\"RFI\") seeks to solicit information from the public to help DOE determine whether an amended standard for UFHWSTs would result a significant energy savings and whether such a standard would be technologically feasible and economically justified.
