{"abstract":"The Department of Energy (DOE or the Department) is amending its regulations concerning nuclear safety management. These regulations govern the conduct of DOE contractors, DOE personnel, and other persons conducting activities (including providing items and services) that affect, or may affect, the safety of DOE nuclear facilities. The revisions reflect the experience gained in the implementation of the regulations over the past seventeen years, with specific improvements to the unreviewed safety question (USQ) process and the review and approval of safety documentation.
