{"abstract":"NMFS Office of Protected Resources (OPR) has received a request from the NMFS' Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) for authorization to take marine mammals incidental to fisheries and ecosystem research conducted in the Atlantic Ocean, over the course of five years. This would be the second set of regulations and 5-year LOA issued to the NEFSC. The proposed regulations would be effective September 10, 2021 through September 9, 2026. As required by the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), NMFS is proposing regulations to govern that take, and requests comments on the proposed regulations.
