{"abstract":"The FAA is superseding airworthiness directive (AD) 2021-26- 08, which applied to certain Bell Textron Canada Limited Model 206, 206A, 206A-1, 206B, 206B-1, 206L, 206L-1, 206L-3, and 206L-4 helicopters. AD 2021-26-08 required removing certain nuts from service; installing newly designed nuts; applying a specific torque, and a torque stripe to each newly installed nut; after the installation of each newly designed nut, inspecting the torque; and depending on the inspection results, either applying a torque stripe, or performing further inspections and removing certain parts from service. AD 2021- 26-08 also prohibited installing any affected nut on any tail rotor drive shaft (TRDS) disc pack (Thomas) coupling. Since the FAA issued AD 2021-26-08, the FAA determined certain torque values and part numbers (P/Ns) need to be revised. This AD was prompted by reports of cracked or missing nuts installed on the TRDS Thomas couplings and the need to revise certain torque values and P/Ns in AD 2021-26-08. This AD requires removing certain nuts from service; installing newly designed nuts; applying torque and a torque stripe; and additional corrective actions if necessary. This AD also prohibits installing any affected nut on any TRDS Thomas coupling, as specified in a Transport Canada AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.","action":"Final rule.","agencies":[{"raw_name":"DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION","name":"Transportation Department","id":492,"url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/transportation-department","json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/agencies/492","parent_id":null,"slug":"transportation-department"},{"raw_name":"Federal Aviation Administration","name":"Federal Aviation Administration","id":159,"url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/federal-aviation-administration","json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/agencies/159","parent_id":492,"slug":"federal-aviation-administration"}],"body_html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/html/2022/11/18/2022-25028.html","cfr_references":[{"chapter":null,"citation_url":null,"part":"39","title":14}],"citation":"87 FR 69155","comment_url":null,"comments_close_on":null,"correction_of":null,"corrections":[],"dates":"This AD is effective December 23, 2022.","disposition_notes":null,"docket_ids":["Docket No. FAA-2022-0807","Project Identifier AD-2022-00214-R","Amendment 39-22188","AD 2022-20-04"],"dockets":[{"supporting_documents":[{"title":"U.S. DOT/FAA - Supplemental AD Documents","document_id":"FAA-2022-0807-0004"},{"title":"Supporting AD Documents","document_id":"FAA-2022-0807-0002"}],"agency_name":"FAA","documents":[{"comment_count":0,"comment_start_date":"2022-11-18","updated_at":"2023-02-27T16:45:25.096-05:00","comment_url":"https://www.regulations.gov/commenton/FAA-2022-0807-0003","allow_late_comments":null,"id":"FAA-2022-0807-0003","comment_end_date":null,"regulations_dot_gov_open_for_comment":false}],"supporting_documents_count":2,"id":"FAA-2022-0807","title":"AD-2022-00214-R Bell Textron Canada Limited Model 206, 206A, 206A-1, 206B, 206B-1, 206L, 206L-1, 206L-3, and 206L-4 helicopters; replace nuts on TRDS couplings"}],"document_number":"2022-25028","effective_on":"2022-12-23","end_page":69158,"executive_order_notes":null,"executive_order_number":null,"full_text_xml_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/xml/2022/11/18/2022-25028.xml","html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2022/11/18/2022-25028/airworthiness-directives-bell-textron-canada-limited-helicopters","images":{},"images_metadata":{},"json_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/api/v1/documents/2022-25028?publication_date=2022-11-18","mods_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/metadata/granule/FR-2022-11-18/2022-25028/mods.xml","not_received_for_publication":null,"page_length":4,"page_views":{"count":782,"last_updated":"2026-08-26 14:15:05 -0400"},"pdf_url":"https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2022-11-18/pdf/2022-25028.pdf","presidential_document_number":null,"proclamation_number":null,"public_inspection_pdf_url":"https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2022-25028.pdf?1668692716","publication_date":"2022-11-18","raw_text_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/full_text/text/2022/11/18/2022-25028.txt","regulation_id_number_info":{"2120-AA64":{"issue":"202504","html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/regulations/2120-AA64/airworthiness-directives","title":"Airworthiness Directives","xml_url":"http://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/eAgendaViewRule?pubId=202504&RIN=2120-AA64&operation=OPERATION_EXPORT_XML","priority_category":"Routine and Frequent"}},"regulation_id_numbers":["2120-AA64"],"regulations_dot_gov_info":{"supporting_documents":[{"title":"U.S. DOT/FAA - Supplemental AD Documents","document_id":"FAA-2022-0807-0004"},{"title":"Supporting AD Documents","document_id":"FAA-2022-0807-0002"}],"regulatory_plan":{"html_url":"https://www.federalregister.gov/regulations/2120-AA64/airworthiness-directives","title":"Airworthiness Directives"},"comments_count":0,"agency_id":"FAA","comments_url":"https://www.regulations.gov/docketBrowser?rpp=50&so=DESC&sb=postedDate&po=0&dct=PS&D=FAA-2022-0807","supporting_documents_count":2,"docket_id":"FAA-2022-0807","document_id":"FAA-2022-0807-0003","regulation_id_number":"2120-AA64","title":"AD-2022-00214-R Bell Textron Canada Limited Model 206, 206A, 206A-1, 206B, 206B-1, 206L, 206L-1, 206L-3, and 206L-4 helicopters; replace nuts on TRDS couplings","checked_regulationsdotgov_at":"2023-02-27T21:45:24Z"},"regulations_dot_gov_url":null,"significant":false,"signing_date":null,"start_page":69155,"subtype":null,"title":"Airworthiness Directives; Bell Textron Canada Limited Helicopters","toc_doc":"Bell Textron Canada Limited Helicopters","toc_subject":"Airworthiness Directives\n","topics":["Air transportation","Aircraft","Aviation safety","Incorporation by reference","Safety"],"type":"Rule","volume":87}
