{"abstract":"The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing the approval of the petition by the Commonwealth of Kentucky (\"Kentucky\" or \"the Commonwealth\") to opt out of the reformulated gasoline (RFG) program and remove the requirement to sell RFG in Jefferson County and parts of Bullitt and Oldham Counties (the \"Kentucky portion of the Louisville Area\"), which are part of the Louisville Moderate nonattainment area for the 2015 ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) and the maintenance area for the 1997 ozone NAAQS. Specifically, by letter dated February 26, 2026, to the Governor of Kentucky, the EPA has approved the Commonwealth's petition and set an effective date for the opt-out from the RFG program as May 27, 2026.
