{"abstract":"This document proposes the adoption of a new airworthiness directive (AD) that is applicable to all McDonnell Douglas Model DC-10 series airplanes and KC-10A (military) airplanes. This proposal would require inspections to detect cracking of H-11 attach bolts of the upper vertical stabilizer and replacement of these bolts and associated nuts with Inconel bolts and nuts. This proposal is prompted by reports of failure of the attach bolts of the upper vertical stabilizer due to stress corrosion.
