Notice and request for comments.

SUMMARY:

The FAA invites public comments about our intention to request the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to approve a current information collection. FAR Part 43 prescribes the rules governing maintenance, rebuilding, and alteration of aircraft and aircraft components, and is necessary to ensure this work is performed by qualified persons, and at proper intervals.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:

Type of Request: Extension of an approved collection.

OMB Control Number: 2120-0020.

Affected Public: A total of 87,769 respondents.

Frequency: The information is collected as needed.

Estimated Average Burden per Response: Approximately 6.5 hours per response.

Estimated Annual Burden Hours: An estimated 2,374,434 hours annually.

Abstract: FAR Part 43 prescribes the rules governing maintenance, rebuilding, and alteration of aircraft and aircraft components, and is necessary to ensure this work is performed by qualified persons, and at proper intervals. This work is done by certified mechanics, repair stations, and air carriers authorized to perform maintenance.
