Meaningful Use of Electronic Health Records
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) (Pub. L. 111-5) authorizes incentive payments to eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, critical access hospitals, and Medicare Advantage organizations to promote the adoption and meaningful use of Certified Electronic Health Record Incentive Programs (CEHRT).
The Department of Health and Human Services and its subordinate agencies publish regulations and official notices relating to the adoption of national standards on meaningful use of electronic records in health information systems. The FCC also has a role in electronic health records technology under the National Broadband Plan.
