Ports of Entry

A port of entry (POE) is a place where one may lawfully enter the nation. International airports are usually ports of entry, as are road and rail crossings on a land border, and major seaports. U.S. Customs and Border Protection enforces the import and export regulations and immigration programs of the U.S. government. The Department of Agriculture also performs inspections to protect the U.S. from potential carriers of animal and plant pests or diseases that could cause serious damage to crops, livestock, pets, and the environment. This search includes documents from other agencies with related immigration, border protection, and customs responsibilities.
