Neither ‘Quakes, nor ‘Canes, nor Heat, nor Gloom of Night…

Just in case you were wondering, Government Computer News has a quake report on Federal Register operations. The GPO workforce responded splendidly once again to ensure nationwide distribution of the electronic and print editions of the daily Federal Register.

While GPO was evacuating its building and inspecting their physical plant, the OFR set up an impromptu command center in the parking lot of nearby Gonzaga College High School to reestablish communications with GPO leadership, our teleworking staff, and our COOP site in Rocket Center, West Virginia. On a personal note, when the earthquake hit our building on North Capitol Street, a treasured bust of Abraham Lincoln pitched end over end into the air, but was fielded successfully in mid-flight. We are happy to report no injuries or substantial damage, and no loss of public access to our publications.
