Public Inspection News
On Wednesday, March 4, 2015, we stopped posting the online Public Inspection List (PIL) at www.ofr.gov. From now on, the online PIL will only be available here at www.federalregister.gov/public-inspection. The content of the the list remains the sames, but some eagle-eyed followers may note a few formatting changes.
The most significant change is in the “updated line” in the Special Filing section. That line looks like this: “updated at 04:15 PM, on Wednesday, March 4th, 2015”. We will update this message only when a document is ADDED to the Special Filing section. So on the morning of March 5th, if documents are dropped from the list, because they have been published, this line will not change. Only when a document is added to the list will the line update with the new time and date.
If you’re just now starting to use the PIL here at www.federalregister.gov, there are some cool features we’d like to point out. One is for new documents in the Special Filing section. A green “splash” mark will appear on all documents that have been added to Special Filing for that day. This allows you to easily scroll down and quickly identify any new special filing documents.

Another great feature is the ability to subscribe to updates. By going to www.federalregister.gov/public-inspection and clicking the “Subscribe” button on the right, you will receive notifications when any update to the PIL occurs.
We hope these and other functions of www.federalregister.gov will help you find the documents you are looking for. If you have any questions, feel free to comment to this post, or on Twitter or Facebook.
