The Department of the Treasury, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, invites the general public and other Federal agencies to take this opportunity to comment on proposed and/or continuing information collections, as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, Public Law 104-13 (44 U.S.C. 3506(c)(2)(A)). Currently, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms within the Department of the Treasury is soliciting comments concerning the Application For License or Permit Under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 40, Explosives.
Written comments should be received on or before June 25, 2001 to be assured of consideration.

Abstract: Chapter 40, Title 18, U.S.C. provides that any person engaged in the business of explosive materials as a dealer, manufacturer, or importer shall be licensed. The information collected on the form is used to determine if the applicant is qualified to be a licensee or permittee under the provisions of the statute. There is no record retention requirement for the applicant.
