In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, this request for comments announces that the Coast Guard is forwarding one Information Collection Request (ICR), abstracted below, to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to request an extension of their approval of the following collection of information: 1625-0080, Customer Satisfaction Surveys. Our ICR describes the information we seek to collect from the public. Review and comment by OIRA ensures that we impose only paperwork burdens commensurate with our performance of duties.
Please submit comments on or before July 14, 2006.

The Coast Guard invites comments on the proposed collection of information to determine whether the collection is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the Department. In particular, the Coast Guard would appreciate comments addressing: (1) The practical utility of the collection; (2) the accuracy of the estimated burden of the collection; (3) ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information that is the subject of the collection; and (4) ways to minimize the burden of collections on respondents, including the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.
Comments to DMS or OIRA must contain the OMB Control Number of the ICR. Comments to DMS must contain the docket number of this request, [USCG 2006-24126]. For your comments to OIRA to be considered, it is best if OIRA receives them on or before the July 14, 2006.

Information Collection Request
Title: Customer Satisfaction Surveys.
OMB Control Number: 1625-0080.
Type Of Request: Extension of a currently approved collection.
Affected Public: Recreational boaters, commercial mariners, industry groups, and State and local governments.
Abstract: Putting people first means ensuring that the Federal Government provides the highest-quality of service possible to the American people. Executive Order 12862 requires that all executive departments and agencies providing significant services directly to the public seek to meet established standards of customer service and (1) Identify the customers who are, or should be, served by the agency and (2) survey customers to determine the kind and quality of services they want and their level of satisfaction with existing services.
Burden Estimate: The estimated burden remains at 5,847 hours a year.Start Signature
