Title: Regulation for Reconsideration of Denied Claims.

Type of Review: Extension of a currently approved collection.
Abstract: Veterans who disagree with the initial decision denying their healthcare benefits in whole or in part may obtain reconsideration by Start Printed Page 25322submitting a request in writing within one year of the date of the initial decision. The request must state why the decision is in error and include any new and relevant information not previously considered. This process reduces both formal appeals and allows decision making to be more responsive to veterans using the VA healthcare system.
An agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a currently valid OMB control number. The Federal Register Notice with a 60-day comment period soliciting comments on this collection of information was published on March 1, 2010, at pages 9278-9279.
