Notice is hereby given that on Dec. 22, 2011, a proposed Consent Decree in United States of America et al. v. AK Steel Corporation, et al., Civil Action No. 97-1863 was lodged with the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
The Consent Decree resolves the United States' claims against Allegheny Ludlum Corporation at the Breslube Penn Superfund Site, located in Coraopolis, Moon Township, Pennsylvania. Those claims were brought under Section 107 of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, 42 U.S.C. 9607. The Consent Decree requires a payment of $535,000 in settlement of the United States' claims.
The Department of Justice will receive for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of this publication comments relating to the Decree. Comments should be addressed to the Assistant Attorney General, Environmental and Natural Resources Division, and either emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to P.O. Box 7611, U.S. Department of Justice, Washington, DC 20044-7611, and should refer to United States of America et al. v. AK Steel Corporation, et al., Civil Action No. 97-1863 (W.D. PA), D.J. The Decree may be examined at U.S. EPA Region 3, 1650 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103. During the public comment period, the Decree may also be examined on the following Department of Justice Web site, http://www.usdoj.gov/enrd/Consent_Decrees.html. A copy of the Decree may also be obtained by mail from the Consent Decree Library, P.O.
