The Internal Revenue Service, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, invites the general public and other Federal agencies to take this opportunity to comment on continuing information collections, as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The IRS is soliciting comments concerning gas guzzler tax.
Written comments should be received on or before December 16, 2019 to be assured of consideration.

Abstract: Internal Revenue Code section 4064 imposes a gas guzzler tax on the sale, use, or first lease by a manufacturer or first lease by a manufacturer or importer of automobiles whose fuel economy does Start Printed Page 55691not meet certain standards for fuel economy. The tax is computed on Form 6197. The IRS uses the information to verify computation of tax and compliance with the law.
Current Actions: There are no changes being made to the form at this time.
Type of Review: Extension of a currently approved collection.
Affected Public: Business or other for-profit organizations and individuals or households.
Estimated Number of Respondents: 605.
Estimated Time per Respondent: 7 hours, 42 minutes.
