Social Security Rulings and Acquiescence Rulings

Social Security Rulings (SSRs) are a series of precedential decisions relating to the programs administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA). SSRs may be based on case decisions made at all administrative levels of adjudication, such as Federal court decisions, Commissioner's decisions, opinions of the Office of the General Counsel, as well as policy interpretations of the law and regulations. Acquiescence Rulings (ARs) explain how SSA will apply a holding by a United States Court of Appeals that is at variance with SSA's national policies for adjudicating claims. This search also includes articles that reference or relate to SSRs and ARs.
